At around 8 p.m. on August 8th, a magnitude 19 earthquake occurred in the Hyuga-Nada Sea in Miyazaki Prefecture. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued an "Emergency Information on the Nankai Trough Earthquake" (Warning of a Massive Earthquake) stating that there is a higher than normal chance of the next large earthquake occurring in the predicted focal area of the Nankai Trough earthquake.
Shima City provides a "Tsunami Hazard Map" in preparation for the unlikely event of a tsunami.
Hazard maps contain detailed information such as areas expected to be flooded by tsunamis, evacuation sites, and evacuation routes, and are important maps for ensuring the safety of citizens.
Please take a look at this and check your evacuation routes and plan your response in case of an emergency.
