The "Hana Matsuri 2026" at Shima Kokubunji Temple, affectionately known as "Yoka-san," which celebrates the Buddha's birthday, will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026.
The Hana Matsuri (Flower Festival) at Shima Kokubunji Temple is a traditional event in which sweet tea is poured over a Buddha statue enshrined in a beautifully decorated flower-decorated hall to celebrate the birth of Buddha.
Generally, the festival is held on April 8th, which is considered the birthday of Buddha, but at Shima Kokubunji Temple, it is held every year on May 8th, and is affectionately known locally as "Yoka-san" (8th day).

This year, for the first time, "Hanamatsuri specialty tokoroten" will be sold as a collaborative project by the local Kofu Youth Association.
Additionally, they will be selling "Body-Friendly Medicinal Coffee" in collaboration with a local herbal tea shop.
