On Masakijima, a small island floating in Ago Bay, an experiential event called "Making a Wish with a Pearl Shell," set on the miraculous sea path known as "Mermaid Road," is being held from May 22nd (Friday).
Mazaki Island once flourished as a pearl-producing region.
This island has a special sand path called "Mermaid Road" that only appears at low tide.
It was named "Mermaid Road" because its appearance resembles a mermaid's tail.
Participants write their wishes on seashells used in pearl cultivation and walk along Mermaid Road towards a "wish-granting spot."
You can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere unique to Mazaki Island by hanging seashells with your wishes while feeling the sea breeze and taking a leisurely stroll around the island.
Take a stroll along "Mermaid Road," which only appears when the tide is out, and feel the island breeze.
We headed to the "wish-making spot" at the end of that path.

Mazaki Island is a small island with an area of approximately 0.36 square kilometers, located in the middle of Ago Bay.
It's about a 15-minute ferry ride from Kashikojima Port, near Kintetsu Kashikojima Station.
On this quiet island surrounded by calm seas, you can still see the townscape that reflects its history as a thriving pearl farming center.
Experience a special path where you can walk with a wish in mind, amidst the nostalgic scenery of the island.
- Depending on the tides, it may not be possible to cross Mermaid Road.
・Do not attempt to cross in severe weather or if it is dangerous.
Please be careful of your footing when participating.
There are no vending machines on Mazaki Island, so please bring your own drinks.
Please take all your trash with you and cooperate with island etiquette.
Please refrain from trespassing on private property or making loud noises.
