The Jama Terrace x Painter's Town Art Project will be held at the Painter's Town Daio Art Gallery from August 1st (Sat) to September 27th (Sun), 2026.
The scenic beauty of Daio-cho and the way of life of the people who live there stimulated the creative spirit of those who love to paint, and from the Taisho era onward, young painters and art students who were trying out new forms of expression began to visit the town.
The townspeople warmly welcomed them, and the town became known throughout the country as a town of painters.
In 1996, the former Daio-cho declared itself a ``painting town'' so that many people could learn about its beautiful scenery, and even now that it has become Shima City, it continues to support people who draw.
