Ugata, Ago Town had a thriving ``kawara'' industry until the mid-Showa era. It is said that at the time, about one in four residents of Ugata Station worked on roof tiles, including shaping, firing, and transporting clay.
In this lecture, we will hear from Arata Nishio, who was born and raised in a family of tile roofers in Ugata, and other panelists about the charm and history of tiles.
