As the Ise Ondo song goes, "If you visit Ise Shrine, visit Asakuma. If you don't visit Asakuma, it's a half-visit," and it was customary for people who visited Ise Shrine to also visit this temple. This is a famous temple that protects Ise Shrine from evil spirits.
