[News Release] We will begin selling the castle stamp "Namikiri Castle"

The Shima City Tourism Association will begin selling "castle stamps" as a new item.
A "Gojoin" (castle stamp) is essentially the castle version of a "Goshuin" (temple/shrine stamp). Over 1,000 different types of Gojoin are already sold at castles (and castle ruins) throughout Japan, and they are extremely popular as collector's items among castle enthusiasts.

There are over a dozen castle ruins confirmed within Shima City, and among them, the most representative is Namikiri Castle.
Currently, the site of Namikiri Castle has been developed into Hachiman-san Park, but earthen rampart-like terrain remains that suggests the castle site.

The Shima City Tourism Association hopes that this will encourage people to visit Shima and tour its castle ruins.

[Announcement] "Wanwan Suite Room" reopens after renovations! [Shima Mediterranean Village]

Shima Mediterranean Village in Hamajima-cho, Shima City, will be completely renovating its popular "Wanwan Suite Room," a room where guests can stay with their dogs, and will begin offering it from May 15, 2026.

In this renovation, we have improved the comfort and safety of dogs and the convenience of their owners, based on feedback from our past guests.
We've transformed travel with your beloved dog into a more free and high-quality experience.

About the Wanwan Suite Room

These are two limited-edition private villas located within the iconic white townscape of Shima Mediterranean Village, designed exclusively for guests traveling with their dogs.
This villa-style property is available for private rental and features a spacious 120 square meter living area with a bedroom on the first floor and a living room on the second floor.
During your stay, you can freely explore the beautiful streets, which change their appearance day and night, with your beloved dog, and enjoy an extraordinary experience that makes you feel as if you are traveling through a Mediterranean town.

Main points of the renewal

1. New rules for spending time together in the bedroom.

We have lifted the previous restriction on dogs using the bedroom.
By allowing your beloved dog to share the same space, we aim to provide a more reassuring and comfortable stay.

2. A new breakfast style to enjoy with your dog

While we generally do not allow dogs in the restaurant for dinner or breakfast, we have now prepared a new breakfast option that you can enjoy in your room with your dog.
Enjoy a relaxing morning with your dog without worrying about disturbing others, thanks to our take-out box-style breakfast that can be enjoyed in your room.
Additionally, you can continue to enjoy light meals with your dog at the in-house cafe (9:00 AM - 17:30 PM).

3. Addressing the needs of multi-pet owners

We have revised our previous pet limit, and now allow up to 3 small or medium-sized dogs, and up to 2 large dogs, to stay at the same time.
We will make your family trip a reality.

4. Experience content to enjoy with your dog

We offer a variety of activities to make your stay a special memory, including cafes where you can enjoy time with your dog, craft workshops, and cruises.

5. Space design that prioritizes the health and safety of your dog.

To reduce the strain on your dog's legs and hips, we've adopted "TOLI Fabric Tile," a special flooring material with an anti-slip finish.
We have created an environment where you can feel safe and secure even indoors.

6. A clean and comfortable indoor environment

In addition to the high-performance air purifier "AirDog," we have also introduced the ozone deodorizing device "Sunstar Giken QAIS-Air-."
We minimize the unpleasant odors that can arise when bringing pets, creating a clean and safe environment.

7. A wide range of amenities

We offer a wide selection of products, including special cookies for dogs, as well as convenient items for pet owners (such as walking bags and cleaning supplies).
We designed the rooms to allow guests to enjoy their time in the rooms and to explore the village itself.

8. Improved accessibility

The new guest rooms have been relocated to a location closer to the front desk.
It made traveling with my dog much easier, as I tend to have a lot of luggage.

9. Install an original sofa specifically for dogs.

We've installed a sofa specifically designed for dogs, made by Sanko Co., Ltd., a furniture manufacturer in Shima City.
We have prepared a "special seat" for your dog.

[Announcement] Shima City Tourism Statistics for Fiscal Year 2025 have been released.

The Shima City Tourism Statistics (7 edition) has been released.
This statistic allows you to view various data related to tourism trends in Shima City, such as the number of tourists visiting and the number of overnight stays.

We encourage tourism-related businesses and others to use this information as a reference for future business planning and information gathering.

Overview

In 2025 (January-December), the number of tourists visiting Japan was 4,100,674, and the number of overnight guests was 1,515,542. Compared to 2024, the total number of tourists increased by 3.6%, and the number of overnight guests increased by 6.4%. In addition, the number of foreign overnight guests was 42,248, a significant increase of 26.8% compared to 2024.

The main factors contributing to the increase in tourist numbers include the hosting of the 44th National Abundant Seas Festival and the continued high visitor numbers of Shima Spain Village, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. These synergistic effects resulted in an increase in both day-trippers and overnight visitors throughout the city.

Furthermore, we have seen a particularly strong influx of foreign guests, especially from Taiwan and Hong Kong, which we believe is a result of the top sales efforts we have been implementing since last year.
